The Indonesians get points for quiet patient persistence, there have been a number of interfaith meetings over the last few years that do not necessarily make headline news.
The planned strategy for this forum continues to show their wisdom. Rather than focussing on the mess of existing conflicts, they are moving further upstream to consider the source of conflicts. Although they comment that it is likely that resolutions will be passed over some conflicts such as the crisis in Lebanon and Palestine (both Israel and Lebanon have apologised for not being able to attend this forum due to urgent local matters).
The chairman hopes one outcome will be: "A declaration to be issued by the forum consists of a message and moral impetus containing comprehensive studies and discourses on the roots of problems of various dimensions... The discourses are expected to give particular perspective to those experiencing an injustice and foster efforts to eliminate the unfairness..."
